Idiom “守株待兔 shǒu zhū dài tù” literally means standing by a tree stump waiting for a hare to crash into it.
守 shǒu – guard
株 zhū – plant
待 dài – wait
兔 tù – rabbit
Example:
Méi yǒu rén néng kào shǒu zhū dài tù qǔ dé chéng gōng.
没有人能靠守株待兔取得成功。
No one succeeds by sitting arround waiting for things to happen.
