Dialogue –

A: Yǐ jīng zài jiā dāi le yì nián le, tā hái bù zháo jí zhǎo gōng zuò.
已经在家呆了一年了,他还不着急找工作。
He has already been out of a job for a year, but he does’t seem to be anxious to look for one.

B: Bié dān xīn, tā shì “Huáng dì de nǚ ér, bù chóu jià”.
别担心,他是“皇帝的女儿,不愁嫁”。
Don’t worry, he is “the Emperor’s daughter, need not to worry finding a husband”.

歇后语 xiè hòu yǔ (literally: a saying with the latter-part suspended) is a kind of Chinese proverb consisting of two elements: the former segment presents a novel scenario while the latter provides the rationale thereof. One would often only state the first part, expecting the listener to know the second.
